Sanctuary

Trauma & Stress Recovery

What is Sanctuary?

Sanctuary is a nature-based, trauma-informed program designed to support healing and recovery from stress, trauma, and adverse life experiences. Grounded in ecotherapy principles, each session blends grounding practices, reflective group conversations, and activities in nature to deepen emotional resilience and personal growth.

Participants explore:

  • How trauma impacts the body and nervous system

  • Strategies for emotional regulation and validation

  • Healthy boundaries and relational safety

  • Ways to release unhelpful coping patterns

  • Practices that nurture self-compassion and inner strength

What is the format of Sanctuary?

Sanctuary includes 8 x 2-hour sessions held either weekly or fortnightly.

Who Is Sanctuary For?

Sanctuary offers two tailored streams to meet the needs of different age groups:

Adult Women: For women who have experienced trauma, grief, family violence, or other life challenges. This stream welcomes participants at various stages of recovery and clinical engagement, offering a supportive space for reflection, connection, and healing.

Teenagers: For young people navigating trauma, stress, or adverse childhood experiences. While the core therapeutic content mirrors the adult program, facilitators use youth-focused strategies, ensuring sessions are developmentally appropriate, emotionally safe, and accessible for teens. Ideal for schools.

Please note: Sanctuary is not suitable for individuals currently experiencing acute trauma or crisis. In such cases, immediate safety and clinical support should be prioritised.

What is the size of the group?

Sanctuary is ideal for 6-8 participants.

Through this Christ-centred journey, participants:

  • Learn to regulate emotional responses with compassion and grace

  • Establish healthy boundaries and relational safety

  • Release coping patterns that no longer serve their wellbeing

  • Reclaim their God-given identity and cultivate hope rooted in faith.

Nature is engaged as a sacred space—an invitation to encounter God’s presence in his creation and find healing beyond words.

Participants may be at various stages of healing and faith development and should be open to reflective group work in a non-denominational setting.
